A volunteer group of the parish whose ministry is to care for the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens of the parish. Altar Guild members prepare the sanctuary for services, and clean up afterwards.
Acolytes are responsible for lighting altar candles, carrying the cross, and assisting the clergy during services. They may also serve as torchbearers, crucifers, thurifers, and banner-bearers, depending on the specific traditions of the congregation
A lay person trained in reading scripture who is appointed by the clergy person in charge of the congregation to read lessons or lead the prayers of the people. A lector may also be known as a reader.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry knits and crochets shawls and lap blankets for the comfort of those in bereavement or sickness, or to those needing support. REWRITE
